Big Sky

Holy Isht! 18" fresh! In a bit of wishful thinking, I hopped out of bed on Thursday, collected my stuff from all over the floor, and hit the road around 6am, bound for Big Sky, MT.

Now, you may be looking at a map and thinking to yourself, "it's not that far..." Unfortunately, the shortcut through Yellowstone is closed during the winter, so I had to go west over the Teton Pass into Idaho, and then north through West Yellowstone over to Montana. I also made the intelligent decision to assume that the roads would be clear all the way there, and it would be a nice 3 hour drive... arriving just in time for the chairs to start moving around. As usual, I couldn't have been more wrong. (Karma is catchin up to me now... couldn't have TOO much fun, now could I?) 174 miles of pure, unadulterated, 50ft-visibility, snow-covered roads later, I made it to Big Sky just a nick after 11. The mayhem that ensued on the trails after that, however, made it pretty much alllllllll worth it. I split my time between the two days snowboarding (Thursday) and skiing/snowboarding (Friday). Definitely had much more fun riding - the rental skis were pretty thin under-foot and weren't the best for the conditions. I hung those up somewhere around 11am Friday and busted out the board for the rest of the day. Took off about 3pm, destined for Pocatello,ID...
