Austin - UT

There's not a whole hell of a lot to speak of between Norman and Austin - except cows, horses and dead grass due to a drought.

I made it to Austin from Norman in roughly 6 hours, with a stopover in Ft. Worth to try and catch up with my life. Made it to Austin just in time to catch the end of the Super Bowl with my Uncle, who is a professor at TAMU but still lives in Austin.

Since I'm considering going to McCombs for grad school, I spent Monday checking out the UT campus and stadium. Pretty cool campus, took a lot of pictures. Definitely somewhere I would go...

After the campus and business school, I went to take a look at the stadium (this is as much of a college football cathedral tour as it is a ski trip) which is located at the southeastern part of the campus. It was under construction at the south end zone, and they have gates to block all access to the bleachers, but I was able to walk around in the promenade and grab a few pictures.

Tuesday I went out to see downtown Austin, the capitol building:
South Congress (the "South Street" of Austin) and went out at night with UJohn to 6th Street:

basically bar after bar after bar after bar after bar after bar and a hotbed of live music pretty much every night of the week. Saw this guy play at The Belmont:

It wasn't a concert, just this dude and his band playing. UJohn recommended them, and apparently the guy plays at a bunch of places all over the state, and runs the gammut on musical style.
